Behind the scenes and under the surface…

….things are happening. The whole mindfulness/happiness movement has taken off, and one word that is heard most frequently in those circles is wisdom. It doesn’t seem to be applied with any greater understanding than we’ve ever had previously, but at least it’s getting more attention!

I’ve just finished reading Arianna Huffington’s Thrive. It was a fast and familiar read, touching on areas that are popular in a lot of the self-awareness and spirituality writing today. Her areas of attention are: self-worth, wisdom, wonder, and giving.

I have to say the chapter on wisdom is the most difficult to relate to, as it seems to be all over the place as far as examples go, with no clear, concise idea of what wisdom is.

No matter. We will take care of that with The Seven Keys… if I ever get it written!

Elizabeth Ann Curran has spent over 40 years studying unity consciousness and wisdom. Identified as "gifted" in elementary school, her mother quickly taught her that she wasn't anything special. Elizabeth determined that it was far better to be wise than smart in any case. Wise people got respect; smart people got bullied. Elizabeth was an active participant in the "Second Wave" of feminism which, she believes, is still in existence. She embraced the women's spirituality movement of the 1970s and became a Wiccan priestess, teaching first- and second-year Wiccan religion, both online and in person. Elizabeth lives in Langley, BC with Doug (her husband), Charlie (their Chihuahua-Papillon-cross), Farley (her late mother's Yorkshire Terrier), Sugar (a White German Shepherd puppy), two very noisy Cockatiels, and five vintage hot rods that Doug has lovingly rebuilt from scraps of rusting metal. Along with their daily drivers, an Explorer V8 and a King Cab pick-up, that brings the fleet to seven vehicles, all Fords. Doug's next project is a 1927 Durant Star, an original barn find.
